The glteus medius and minimus are considered by some as the rotator-cuff muscles of the hip. Tear in the tendon of those muscles can cause weakness and pain. Diagnosis can be made by MRI and physical exam. Indication for surgical repair include : pain over the greater trochcanter, weakness and MRI
